Tips on How to Conduct an Academy

  1. You must have conducted a career interest survey for invitations, and promotion to the parents is vital. Don't assume they know what this is the first time.

  2. Determine early how this is to be funded. Grants are possible through the school as is help from local companies. You must clear any funding request with the local council. Youth can pay their own way, but the fee needs to be very modest.

  3. The school liaison is vital to the success of this event, and great care must be used in their selection. Contacting Betsy Dulin www.marshall.edu/eeae at Marshall University is suggested.

  4. This is an excellent way to cultivate engineering firms in the local area.

  5. All participants must be Explorers but do not have to be Engineering Explorers.
