Post Support by Local Offices

Your Explorer post is supported by one of more than 300 local offices. Each LFL/Exploring district agrees to:

• Provide professional staff to help the post succeed
• Maintain a service center, and activities to support Exploring
• Recruit, train, and guide a volunteer district organization
• Provide multiple-post activities such as road rallies, ski trips, and career-related conferences as planned by the officers and Advisors of posts at the annual planning conference.
• Conduct an annual career interest survey of high schools in the area
• Provide the use of facilities such as camps and aquatic bases.

NATIONAL ACTIVITIES

Explorers may attend three National High Adventure Bases:

• Philmont High Adventure Base, Cimarron, NM 87714 (505-376-2281).
• Northern Tier National High Adventure Base, P.O. Box 509, Ely, MN 55731 (218-365-4811).
• Florida National High Adventure Sea Base, P.O. Box 858, Islamorada, FL 33036 (305-664-4173).

Other programs that enhance Explorers' participation are the National Law Enforcement Conference, National Fire Academy, National Mock Trial Competition, National Health Careers Symposium. In addition, local councils sponsor Engineering Academies and Aviation Flying Activities that posts are invited to attend.

LIABILITY INSURANCE FOR PARTICIPATING ORGANIZATIONS

LFL general liability insurance covers Participating Organizations on a primary basis for responsibility they may have because of their working with Exploring.

Primary insurance means that LFL insurance takes effect in the event of claims or judgments against the participating organization on Exploring-related matters without asking the organization and/or its own insurance to be involved.

TRAINING

The local office provides basic and advanced leader training sessions along with post leader workshops, quarterly advisor meetings, and program conferences to improve and enrich post programs.
